Inter University Gliding Competition 2014
Saltby Airfield, 2nd to 10th August 2014
The 36th Inter University Gliding Competition will be hosted by Nottingham University Gliding Club, at Saltby airfield, from the 2nd to the 10th of August 2014. This will be the 10th time that Nottingham have hosted the competition, and the 6th time it has been at Saltby.
Buckminster Gliding Club have offered us a great deal, with no soaring fees for the first hour in the air in any Buckminster GC glider for students in the competition. We have exclusive use of 1 of Saltby's two-seaters for the week, and use of the rest of their fleet when it is available. 2 Buckminster GC instructors are also on the rota every day to help with the week. Visiting instructors are of course also welcome. Camping for the week will be £20 and student membership will be free, plus free reciprocal membership to clubs offering the same.
We'll be running a pretty similar set of rules to last year, with three separate sub-competitions - XC, Soaring and Progression. We're aiming to make competing open to as many people as possible. For example, you can get points for taking your first flight in a glider for the ab-initios, points for soaring for those that haven't done so before and points for XC tasks – for those that really know what they're doing! Full details on the Rules page.
Above all, we want everyone to enjoy flying with us, and have a fantastic week. We aim to organise lots of social activities for the evenings and encourage you to bring as many pilots as possible to compete for your university!
